Minister for Law and Sports M. Vijayakumar has said the Cabinet sub-committee constituted to decide on land for the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) has entrusted the identification of suitable land for the institute to Revenue Ministr K.P. Rajendran.
Speaking to the press here on Tuesday, Mr. Vijayakumar said that the decision was that eviction of people should be avoided. He declined to confirm or deny that 87 acres of a plantation belonging to the Forest Department near Valiamala had been identified for the space institute by the Revenue Department.
